Sugar Bowl Bakery began in 1984 when five Ly brothers, refugees from Vietnam, bought a small coffee and donut shop in San Francisco's Richmond District. The family business, now based in Hayward, California, grew into a major producer of French-style madeleines, palmiers and brownie bites sold in Costco and grocery stores nationwide.
